GHS (
Globally Harmonized System) is an internationally standardized and accepted way to label hazardous chemicals.
GHS was adopted by the United States and the conversion to this identification system has been happening for the past several years. The road to that adoption by the US is explored in this infographic.
The highlights of the transition are covered, along with major milestones and the countries that introduced them. The
GHS system makes use of pictograms to identify hazards. The dangers of the chemicals can be readily seen on labels by employees and emergency workers. These labels are required for storage and transport of all hazardous chemicals. The infographic illustrates the GHS timeline covering the key events during the years back in time.
